Three-line, three patent frame marking on left side. Cylinder with rampant colt motif stamped at breech. and number 20 stamped at muzzle end. Matching 20 on bottom of frame, loading gate, inside surface of ejector rod housing and on left side of gripstraps. Also on bottom of frame: "34," "69," and date "7-20-53." Nickel-plated, with mother-of-pearl grips. Buscadero holster marked "Hunter's" and of stiff brown leather, for 10-inch barrel Single Action, with leather thong tie-down. ?
Condition: Very good to fine as refinished, with replacement barrel, cylinder and hammer. The hammer blued, with polished sides. Pearl grips aftermarket and likely late 19th or early 20th century. Tracking lines by stop slots and toward face of cylinder. Holster with wear, dust.
Notes: Colt factory research letter from Historian Kathleen J. Hoyt indicates: .45 caliber, 4 3/4-inch barrel, nickel-plating, stocks not listed, shipped to Simmons Hardware Co., St. Louis, Missouri, April 1, 1884, 20 same type guns in shipment.

Buttstrap with U.S. Army Model 1917 markings, and butt number 148417. Oil finished walnut grips. Back of leather flap holster stamped "Fink/1942." Front of holster with US stamping within double oval motif. ?

Lockplate, bottom of triggerguard and patchbox lid engraved with pictorial panels depicting woodland scenes and wild game. Lockplate marked: A. Henry. Sliding safety. Hammer replaced. Checkered walnut pistolgrip stock with original vertically adjustable leather cheekrest. Sling eyes. Wooden ramrod with brass ferrule. Sold together with an accompanying gunsmith-made side-mounted tang mount for a Vernier peep sight, designed to allow the sight to be attached without drilling existing tang. ?
